BIOGRAFIA

Paolo Fiorellini è nato nel 1961 a Sarzana (La Spezia) dove vive e lavora. Nel 1985 ha frequentato l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara. Inizialmente il suo lavoro artistico è stato caratterizzato da un linguaggio tra la figurazione e l’Espressionismo; dagli anni Novanta la sua pittura è approdata ad un gesto più informale e ricco di materia, quindi si è dedicato alla sperimentazione dei materiali, tra cui il silicone, nel quale ha spesso incluso elementi naturali (fiori, erba o pesci). Fiorellini si interessa alla sostanza e alla materia del pigmento e delle superfici; privilegia il colore per l’energia assorbita o irradiante, la sua ricerca consiste nel creare disorientamento e nel proporre icone e archetipi capaci di suggerire concetti e principi morali. Artista visivo poliedrico, spazia fra pittura, scultura, assemblage e performance, con esiti collocabili fra la Transavanguardia e le ricerche oggettuali più recenti.

BIOGRAPHY

Italian artist Paolo Fiorellini was born in 1961 in Sarzana, near La Spezia, where he presently lives and works. In 1985 he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara. Much of his early work could be described as falling between figurative and expressionism. In the 1990ʼs he began to dedicate himself to experimenting with materials and his paintings became less formal and rich in materials such as silicon, flowers, grass and fish. Fiorellini is drawn to the examination of the pigments and surfaces of substances preferring colors that absorb or radiant energy. His explorations consists of creating disorientation using icons and archetypes to express concepts and morals. Technically versatile, he works with paint, sculpture, assemblage and performance. His work can be characterized within the realmss of trans-avantgarde and modern object study.
